What has been stressing you? Your job, co workers, perhaps the drive home? In any event, I’m sure you are ready to relax and de-stress. I have found that one of the quickest ways to “unwind” and begin de-stressing is to grab a cold drink and head for the backyard. This is my private sancutary! Here I can gather my thoughts and put things in their proper perspective.
Just looking at the flowers, the birds and the watching the water as it flows, splashing into the pond below. Here there is the serenity that I have been yearning for. The sound of the splashing water is mesmerizing and is very comforting. How do you de-stress?
While vacationing this year, be sure to check out the public water fountains in the area. Most major cities have public water fountains. The fountains let you take in a fresh breath, and allow you to relax. You can just feel the stress melt away as you gaze into the water cascading down. Or close your eyes and listen to sounds of the water spashing.
Check out this public fountain if you get to Paris.
Water fountains bring the soothing sounds of flowing water into the home or backyard, but they also bring a visual element. Not only are water fountains beautifully designed and able to complement just about any existing decor, the water itself lends another dimension of stress relief to the equation. Watching the dance and trickle of water as it flows across rocks, down textured surfaces, and into a basin at the bottom enhances our auditory experience. When we listen to sound machines or audio recordings of nature sounds, we may feel the need to close our eyes to block out visual distractions around us that take our minds away from the goal of relaxation. In contrast, the visual attributes of water fountains bring us closer to that goal by giving us something beautiful and elemental to focus on with our eyes as we listen with our ears.
I can feel the mist of water as a gentle breeze blows… This fountain is absolutely inspiring. Could you come up with a smaller version for your backyard? or perhaps you have an idea that is a little different?
If water fountains are an allure for you, but you don’t think that you have the room for one, check out the wall water fountains that are available. These virtually do not take up any new space. They are placed on an existing wall, could be the side of a house, garage or storage building. Just be sure you have a source of electric to run the pump that recycles the water.
You will still be able to see and hear the running splashing water.
Now is a good time to put in your water features. There are many, many different sizes and shapes of water fountains. And each fountain sounds different. Some will sound like water cascading, while others may sound like a steady drip and others may have a splashing sound. What do you prefer?
Wow. This is heavenly!! It is so nice to wake up with the sun shining and the birds singing. To take my cup of coffee and sit out on the patio. I can see the the spring flowers blooming and take in the sights and sounds of nature as I contemplate what will be happening today. How relaxing this is. The sounds of the garden water fountain splashing, and watching the birds take a dip the cool off or clean up whatever the case may be. Does this sound like a plan or what?
With the weather warming up it is a good time to check on your ponds and fountains. Remove any debris that may be in the pond. You can turn your fountain pump and filters on to help remove and clean your water.
Now is a good time to add your submerged water plants such as anacharis and hornwort. When all danger of frost you can begin adding your other plants such a water lilies, lotus, reeds and rushes. There are many plants to choose from! some are flowering and some are beautiful foliage plants.
Have you always wanted to do something with that bland garage wall but you just can’t figure out what to do with it.
Bring the sounds of your water fountain into your backyard with a wall water fountain. Wall Fountains are a special addition to your surroundings. Studies have shown that the
splashing water puts healthful negative ions into your surrounding environment. This helps to control allergies by keeping airborne dust partials to a minimum.
The sound of flowing water also helps to relax and de-stress you after a long hard day.
A favorite theme to any indoor or outdoor decor is Americana. You know red, white, blue, eagles, flags, etc. Almost anything that comes from early America.
There are many ways to carry this theme out. You can use Flags, benches, flower pots, plaques. You can create your own design of things. This makes it fun and unique. Or you can purchase your items online, in store or out of catalogs. Have fun!
