There are so many quaint birdhouses on the market that you could virtually build an old time village. There are bait shops, pharmacies, inns, florists, wineries, fire stations, gas stations, wedding chapels and the list goes on and on.
You can create a whole village or just use a couple birdhouses to complete your backyard theme.
Don’t forget while you are designing your garden to include placque’s. They can help you to carry out your theme. They can be placed on or around porch, deck or on the wall of your out building (shop, shed or garage). You can even put some on a tree. You decide.
With all the cold weather that we have been having the backyard looks like a frozen fairy land. And with the recent freezing rain we had everything is ice. But what splendor it is!! It is beautiful to say the least.
The running water is frozen in time and space, arched as if it were meant to be a bridge in time.
Yesterday we spoke of planting a garden for birds. But seriously you can do just that. Some birds are attracted to color…..like hummingbirds. They like the bright colors, oranges and reds especially. And we learned that cardinals like shrubs. Robins are also very popular. As spring approaches we think more of them. So what do they like? Well Robins like earthworms best but by planting fruit trees and flowering shrubs, you’ll be inviting them in. Robins will also sing a song or two for you as well.
Sounds a little crazy I’m sure. But did you know that you can plant a flower garden for a particular kind of bird? What’s your favorite bird? Let’s take a look at the Cardinal. Cardinals like sunflower seeds, safflower seeds and cracked corn. They also like weed seeds and fruit and a wide variety of insects. They like a yard that has lots of shrubs for cover. This is so they can safely move about. Vines are especially a favorite.

Having the sound of running water can be a simple objective. There are so many kinds of fountains on the market today. There are standing fountains, wall fountains and table top fountains. Did you know that many of them do not require additional plumbing? They have a reservoir that you fill (and must keep filled) when the pump is pumping. Just place this type of fountain near an electrical outlet so it can be plugged in.
Don’t you just love to find a cute little sign or marker when you are walking through a garden? Some signs declare something while others give directions and still others may just welcome you. At any rate they are charming and whimsical.
There are so many birdhouses to choose from on the market today. Some are functional, some decorative, some whimsical and some are natural. You can choose one that will follow a theme, or one that you just think is cute! Place them all over your yard and in your garden. The birds will really want to thank you.
While decorating your yard, you may consider putting bird feeders/bird houses out. They will look great and will also help the birds.
Make it fun for you and your family.
The sound of falling water is so serene and peaceful. The area of waterfalls always is majestic and. Only God could have created anything so beautiful.
I obiviously can’t be near a waterfall all the time, so I have created a small space in my home to replicate the sounds.
