Let your gardening experience be fun. Include your children and grandchildren while creating an charming back yard. By adding statues and/or figurines that are whimsical you will be creating a delightful experience for young and old alike.
Generally speaking fountains are usually pretty to install. There are a number of good water fountains on the market. Shop around or drive around to find an out of the way gardening center that may have different fountains than what you would find in your local stores. The water fountains that you buy usually come with a water pump and there may be limited assembly. You will just have to place it near an electic outlet to run electricity to the pump.
And if you are handy enough you could build your own. You would be amazed at what you would find laying around that would we suitable to put a fountain together. Add some water tubing and a pump and voila you have a custom made backyard water fountain.
If you don’t have enough room in your yard for a fountain or pond you can attract flocks of visitors to your garden with a sparkling bird bath. It will be an oasis for the feathered traveler. A sweet addition to a shady corner or sunny knoll, this enchanting floral birdbath brings to mind the genteel gardens and gentle sentiments of bygone Victorian days.

Adding beauty to your garden decor can be done several ways, and it will be probably be different for each of us. You can add plants, trees, objects, water features. Beauty is indeed “in the eye of the beholder”. (and the pocketbook)!
Look down the road and see the “big picture” maybe you can transform your yard/garden slowly, especially if you have limited resources. Add a few flowering plants or bushes this year and you’ll be able to see the beauty begin, with birds, butterflies and blooms, then next year maybe you can add a statue or water feature. This can be repeated year after year until you have created your “masterpiece”.
With the warmer weather, I’m in seventh heaven. I love having all the song birds in the backyard, and I love hearing them sing! You too can hear this symphony by encourageing these songbirds to visit, nest and feed in your backyard. It is so easy to encourage most birds. You probably already have trees, shrubs and flowers, now put up a birdhouse/birdfeeder and some food, and you’ll be listening to a beautiful song or two also. Have you ever considered using a table top fountain on your deck? or in a sun room? As long as you can access electicity it would be ideal on a deck or in a sun room. You will still be able to enjoy the sounds of the water without being in the hot summer sun.

If water fountains are an allure for you, but you don’t think that you have the room for one, check out the wall water fountains that are available. These virtually do not take up any new space. They are placed on an existing wall, could be the side of a house, garage or storage building. Just be sure you have a source of electric to run the pump that recycles the water.
You will still be able to see and hear the running splashing water.
